The Asia-Pacific Regional Human Development Initiative puts people at the centre of development. Human Development Reports are flagship products and key advocacy tools for the idea that development is more than about economic growth. APRI also supports Country Offices in preparing National Human Development Reports.

Along with producing a range of knowledge products and knowledge services, APRI has a broad platform to facilitate advocacy, communications and dissemination of research findings. The link between research and stakeholders is key to aligning policies more effectively with human development concerns.

The RRC APRI is a regional programme that provides UNDP Country Offices and other partners in the Asia-Pacific with policy-oriented research, analysis and advocacy from a human development perspective, on themes of relevance. The Programme also undertakes capacity development and policy advisory services to Country Offices in the region.

Objectives

To strengthen the human development perspective through support to:

  • Policy-oriented research and analysis from a human development perspective and the production of Regional Human Development Reports (RHDRs) and country- cluster HDRs
  • Advocacy initiatives aimed at disseminating research findings to stakeholders to better align polices with human development
  • Capacity development, training and learning events to strengthen the human development perspective in policies and programmes
  • Advisory services to Country Offices on human developed-related issues
